Personal information
Peter Šemrl graduated from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1985. He got his PhD at the same University in 1988. At present he is a Professor of Mathematics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana, and Director of the Institute of Mathematics, Physiscs, and Mechanics in Ljubljana.

His research interests are Functional Analysis, Operator Theory, Linear Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Physics. He published more than 180 research papers in research journals and gave more than 40 plenary talks at international conferences and was invited speaker at more than 30 universities and institutes all around the world including: Banach Center, Warsaw;

He was a member of Scientific organizing committees of more than 15 international conferences all around the world.
He was President of International Linear Algebra Society (2014-2020) and is Editor-in-Chief of Linear Algebra and Its Applications. In 1996 he received the National award for scientific achievements in Slovenia. At the 11th ILAS Conference in Coimbra, Portugal, he won the Taussky-Todd prize. He recived in 2018 the Bela Szokefalvy-Nagy Medal in Szeged, Hungary. In 2024 he recived G. De B. Robinson Award from the Canadian Mathematical Society.
